“If you are 18 or older and suffer from Neck Pain & Headache, you may be eligible to participate in a research study.”

What is this study about?

This study is evaluating a minimally invasive treatment for adults with chronic neck pain and cervicogenic headaches that have not improved with conservative treatments. The goal is to better understand long-term pain relief and improvements in daily function after treatment. Since this procedure is already FDA-approved, you or your insurance will be billed for the procedure. The research portion of the study, is described below.

What does participation involve?

Participants who qualify for the procedure will undergo a treatment designed to target specific nerves associated with chronic neck pain and headache symptoms.

Following the target procedure, participants will be followed over time with phone visits at approximately:

1 month
3 months
6 months
12 months

At these visits, participants may:

Complete questionnaires about pain and quality of life
Discuss symptom improvement with the study team
Review medication use and daily functioning

Participants:

Inclusion Criteria:

You may qualify if you:

Are 18 years or older
Have chronic neck pain and headaches lasting at least 6 months
Have not improved with prior treatments such as medications, physical therapy, or other conservative care
Previously experienced temporary relief from diagnostic nerve block procedures

Exclusion Criteria:

You may not qualify if you:

Are pregnant
Have certain bleeding disorders or require long-term blood thinners
Have uncontrolled psychiatric conditions
Have had certain prior neck surgeries

A Prospective Study Investigating the Impact of Radiofrequency Ablation for Axial Neck Pain when Facet Joints are Identified as Etiology of Pain with Cervicogenic Headache

Investigate the impact radiofrequency ablation on cervicogenic headache and neck pain
4 phone calls, Course of 1 year
Has lasted neck pain and headache more than 6 months
Has not responded to other treatments (such as physical therapy, chiropractic care, bed rest, etc.)

1. Participants:

Inclusion Criteria:
Adults (18+) individuals experiencing at least 6 months of chronic neck pain and headache that have had a positive response to two diagnostic nerve blocks.
Exclusion Criteria: Individuals that are on long-term blood thinners, have had prior cervical fusion surgery at C2-5, or have had surgery in the past 3 months.
